View announces smart building cloud product

View, a smart building proptech originally focused on smart glass, announced the upcoming launch of its cloud-native, end-to-end smart building platform, according to a press release.

The company says it is set the unveil the product, titled the Smart Building Cloud, during Realcomm 2022 in Orlando on June 15-16, where it will deliver the proptech conference’s keynote.

It says the platform is set to provide real estate technology teams all software components “required to connect, manage, and optimize a portfolio of smart buildings with strong cybersecurity protection and maximum flexibility.” View claims that these capabilities are increasingly important as growing digital transformation drives the need for secure, unified device infrastructure.

It says that while this transformation promises healthier and more sustainable buildings, better experiences for occupants and operational efficiencies for owners, existing solutions require combining point solutions, which results in greater exposure to cybersecurity threats, cost overruns and diminished returns.

“View is on a mission to transform the human experience inside buildings, while dramatically reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions from real estate,” stated Rahul Bammi, Chief Business Officer at View, in the release.

View says the system accomplishes this by aggregating data from connected systems, sensors and applications within a building and by applying data normalization and spatial contexts. It says this provides owners and operators with a number of products, including:

  • View Secure Edge: a “plug-and-play” edge-to-cloud solution that enables central management of building networks, systems and data and deployment of edge applications for real-time processing, insights and optimizations.
  • View Remote Access: a security access portal that enables IT teams to maintain smart buildings and provides vendors and technicians with secure, time-bound remote access to building networks and devices.
  • View Workplace Experience: a configurable application and web-based tool suite that provides facility managers with actionable insights related to building health, space utilization and workplace operations.

The company says components of this cloud have already been deployed in over 50 million square feet of buildings globally, with notable customers including Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Tishman Speyer, RXR, Deutsche Bank and CBRE.

“Customers are using our platform to harness data already generated by their buildings to immediately enhance the occupant experience, reduce energy consumption, and gain operational efficiencies. The Smart Building Cloud extends the value that View already provides with our Smart Glass solution. Building owners can now optimize every aspect of their new and existing buildings—from natural light and energy efficiency to air quality, space utilization, and even building maintenance and repairs,” Bammi said.

The company also noted that this technology builds upon its core product offering, View Smart Glass, which continuously adjusts building glass to meet lighting needs and improve energy-efficiency. It says this smart glass tech is currently used in more than 100 million square feet of buildings, and says it led to the development of the Smart Building Cloud product.
